Application Deadlines: For the Beginner’s program, the registration deadline is May 14. Registrations for the June workshops should be submitted by June 10. THERAPEUTIC TOUCH ~ USING OUR HANDS TO HELP AND TO HEAL
Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a hands-on energetic modality to facilitate healing that can be learned by anyone wanting to help. Developed by Dolores Krieger, RN, PhD and Dora van Gelder Kunz in the early 1970‘s, TT has a long history of application and research promoting healing in numerous physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges. It is a safe, non-invasive treatment, for use by family members, lay people, and health care professionals.
Therapeutic Touch is based on the idea of a ”Universal Energy Field” that exists within all living things and the belief that Healing is a natural human potential. In health, life energy flows freely throughout the body. In contrast, dis-ease is a condition of energy imbalance or disorder. TT also adheres to the concept that inherent in nature is a healing energy comprised of Wholeness, Compassion and Natural Order. Through quieting ourselves, we can connect to this healing energy and compassionately and consciously use our hands to direct it to support healing.
Among the things that Therapeutic Touch has been proven to promote are: a deep relaxation response, easing tension and anxiety; a reduction of pain; an acceleration of the healing process and, providing comfort at the end of life.
Acceptance to the Therapeutic Touch programs is by application only. In choosing the appropriate program level, please compare your own level of experience with the suggested qualification criteria and consider what would best further your studies at this time.
