Using the Power of Hope to Cope with Dying

April 15– 18 (Thursday dinner – Sunday lunch) Hope comes to the fore when facing the greatest challenge in our life, our own death. The Hope System: The Four Stages of Hope is an innovative and effective approach to the care of the dying person and their loved ones. The Four Stages of Hope describe how the nature of hope changes in the person with a terminal diagnosis through death. The underlying principles and the basic needs of the dying will be presented as they relate to the Hope System and the dying person. Experiential exercises and didactic approaches will help in understanding our personal death awareness and helping others on their final journey.tree water

Cathy Fanslow-Brunjes is an internationally acclaimed pioneer and expert in the fields of death, dying, grief, nursing, and hospice care. Over the years she has received numerous honors for her work. She has directed and helped to create various hospice programs in the United States and abroad. She developed the “Standards of Care for the Dying” which is the protocol used by the Veterans Administration across the country. Cathy has worked with more than 40,000 dying persons, their families, caregivers and staff.
