Deep Singing

July 17–22 (Saturday dinner – Thursday lunch) Back by popular demand! Come, bring your voice, and join it with others in joyful harmony! Across cultures and in most traditions, some form of singing or chanting plays a significant role in both group ritual and personal spiritual practice. Singing together, especially repeated singing of the same sounds, can be a profoundly meditative experience, one that brings with it an experience of pure joy.

We will gather each morning for meditative and joyful “deep singing,” using rounds, chants, and simple harmonies. In addition to the morning program, we will also offer afternoon sessions for those who are interested in playing with new, more challenging rounds or singing more difficult or multipart songs. In the evening we will have singalongs of old favorites as wells as opportunities for individuals, duos, or larger groups to perform. Bring your instruments, your favorite songs, and the desire to lift your voice in song.helen2family-camp-iisummer-2006-160
