Beachcomber Consciousness
August 4-9 (Saturday dinner–Thursday lunch)
A human being is something like a beach: we have one part of ourselves that is firmly anchored in and part of the land–the physical realm–but another part extends into the “ocean” of the spiritual realms–the subtle worlds–from which come waves of intuition, inner contact, and inspiration. We are all potential “beachcombers,” learning to live at the edge where these two worlds meet, which is a place with particular power.
David Spangler will draw on a lifetime full of experience to help us explore how to develop a “Beachcomber Consciousness” in our own lives, a way of connecting and working with non-physical reality. Each day there will be specific lesson material offered, but the emphasis of the week will be on personal practice and experience. The “Beach” is different in each of us. The task is not simply to learn that it’s there as a mode of consciousness but to experience within ourselves how it is there uniquely for each of us.
David Spangler has been a spiritual teacher since 1964. His work involves enabling individuals to develop an incarnational awareness. He is a co-founder of the Lorian Association, which is a spiritual education foundation. From 1970 to 1973 he was co-director of the Findhorn Foundation Community in Scotland. David is the author of many books, including Subtle Worlds: An Explorer’s Field Notes, Facing the Future, and Apprenticed to Spirit.
